On Sunday morning, April 21, Cardinal Seán O’Malley will celebrate the 11:30 Mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. He will offer this Mass for the repose of the souls of those who have died as a result of the recent bombings which took place during the Boston Marathon. We will also pray for those who were physically injured and for the brave men and women who saved countless lives as first responders. Cardinal Seán has said, “In the midst of the darkness of this tragedy we turn to the light of Jesus Christ.” Please join Cardinal Seán as together we turn to Christ, the Light of the World, praying for peace and healing for all those who have been affected by this act of violence. Mayor Menino’s Office has asked us to forward the following message to you regarding Sunday, April 21st Day of Prayer and Healing:
“Mayor Menino joins faith communities across the City of Boston in a day of prayer and healing for the victims and their families in the wake of the tragic events that transpired in our City. We join together to reflect and share our appreciation for the courage of our law enforcement officials and emergency and medical personnel. We recognize the strength and compassion of ordinary civilians who rushed in harm’s way to help. And we pray for healing and peace for the families mourning the loss of their loved ones, Martin Richard, Krystle Campbell, Lu Lingzi, and Officer Sean Collier. We remain a proud and resilient city that will forever be: One Boston.”
Staff from the Boston Public Health Commission (617-534-5050) are available on Sunday from 10-2 pm, and Monday through Friday from 9-5pm providing counseling services.”
