Attention Young Singers!

The Christmas Youth Choir sign-up and first rehearsal will take place Sunday, October 28 from 10:50-11:50AM.  All students in grade 1-8 are invited to participate. High School Assistants are also welcome (counts towards confirmation community service credit)!  Seven rehearsals will take place on the following dates and times:

  • 10/28 10:50-11:50am (Sign Up Begins)
  • 11/04 10:50-11:50am
  • 11/18 10:50-11:50am
  • 12/02 10:50-11:50am
  • 12/09 10:50-11:50am
  • 12/16 10:50-11:50am
  • 12/23 10:00-11:00am

Children will participate in the Parish Christmas Concert on December 9 AND/OR Christmas Eve 5:30 Family Mass.  All rehearsals are in St. John’s Chapel.  For more information, please call Maria Wardwell at 781-237-2148

St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday March 17 – 5pm Mass

On Saturday, March 17th, members of St. John’s  music (the various music groups) will be present  to assist with the music at the 5pm Mass.  There will be traditional Irish hymns, one hymn “related” to Ireland and the singing of An Irish Blessing.  (Rehearsal for this Mass is at 3:45pm on Saturday prior to the Mass.)

Seeking Actors/Actresses in Grade 3 and older to help “perform” the Passion Play at the 8:45am Family Mass on Palm Sunday, April 1.  Attendance at one rehearsal on Saturday, March 31 from 9am to 12pm is required/mandatory. Two rehearsals remain: March 25, and April 1 (all from 10:50-11:50am in the Chapel.)  The children will sing at the 9am Family Mass on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Music for the Holidays

The music groups (Parish Choir, Family Mass Musicians, Contemporary Music Ensemble) for our regular weekend masses are rehearsing now and welcome your participation. No auditions are required, just a desire to sing or share playing your musical instrument. In addition to those groups there are the special occasion masses and events, i.e. Thanksgiving Day, Parish Christmas Concert, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, where we also welcome your participation. Additional rehearsals for these special events will take place on Sunday evenings, 6:15-7:45pm on Oct 23, Nov 6 and Nov 20 in the Music Office. Understanding that we all have overloaded schedules, you may wish to be part of only one or two of these special holiday events.  All are welcome!
