The 39 pilgrims from our collaborative are leaving for World Youth Day on July 21st and returning on August 3rd. We would like to invite you to a send-off Mass on Thursday, July 21 at 12:00 noon at St Paul Church. We will have Mass together and then the pilgrims will board the bus and wave goodbye!
Also we invite you to follow our pilgrimage blog at www.sjspwellesley.org/wyd2016. We hope that we will be able to update you and share photos daily. The blog will also be available from both parish websites.
Please pray for all of us, for safe travels, health and mostly that through this pilgrimage God will pour down His blessings on our young people, setting their hearts on fire and filling them with a deeper love for Him. We will be praying for our sponsors and for the intentions of everyone in our collaborative while we are in Poland and especially at Mass with Pope Francis. We are so grateful for all your support.

At Masses this weekend, March 12-13, we will introduce the young parishioners from the St. John-St. Paul Collaborative who will be attending World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland this summer, and inviting parishioners to sponsor the pilgrims both financially and spiritually.

World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope which is typically celebrated every few years in a different country. This year, we have 40 representatives from St. John and St. Paul parishes traveling to Krakow, Poland this summer. After attending the 11:00am Mass at St John’s together last Sunday, we held the first of our preparation meetings this year where we began to learn about the history of Poland and the Catholic church in Poland and specifically about the life of St. John Paul II.

World Youth Day, initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1986, attracts more than one million youth from almost every country. World Youth Day (WYD) is an opportunity for the youth of our parishes to learn about their faith and to build bridges of friendship and hope between continents, people, and cultures. The week-long event culminates with mass with the Holy Father. We have around 30 young people from St. John-St. Paul hoping to travel to Kraków for WYD in 2016. We are asking for your help to support our young people by buying a ticket to our closed end raffle. Only 500 tickets will be sold. Ticket price: $100
1st prize: $5,000 2nd prize: $2,000 3rd prize: $1,000
The drawing will be held on October 12th, 2015. All proceeds will be used to send our young parishioners to World Youth Day. A raffle form can also be downloaded here.

This year WYD will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil starting with the Pope’s arrival on July 22, 2013 and CatholicTV will be there!
