Where Are You on Your Faith Journey?

RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It the process by which adults enter full communion with our Church, through the sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist (Communion). RCIA can help you along your faith journey if:

  • You want to join the Church, and have never been baptized.
  • You have been baptized in another Christian faith tradition, but want to join the Catholic Church.
  • You have been baptized in the Catholic Church, but never had your First Communion or Confirmation.

If you think RCIA might be for you, contact either parish office by phone, or email rcia@sjspwellesley.org.  We’d love to hear from you!

Family Mass Musicians Starts Up Again!

Children and adults blend voice and instruments to praise the Lord and enrich our Sunday 9am Family Mass with upbeat, child-friendly, hand-clapping hymns.  During the school year, we rehearse each Sunday morning at 8:10am in the music office on the lower level of the church to prepare for that day’s 9:00 a.m. Mass (no need to commit to every Sunday), and we also prepare special liturgies for Grade Level Masses, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday, Easter, and Pentecost.  All ages, grade 1 and older, are welcome! We are always seeking new singers and instrumentalists to join our ranks.   For more information please contact Maria Wardwell at 781-237-2148 or maria.wardwell@stjohnwellesley.org

Updates from the Dominican Republic!

A group of our high school students, along with the St. John-St. Paul Youth Ministry team, Fr. Jim, and a representative from NPH USA, are at the NPH home in the Dominican Republic for a week-long service and immersion trip for a firsthand experience of how NPH USA transforms the lives of children!

While there, the group is providing us with daily updates and photos – please click the logo below to check out the blog and follow along on their journey!

Our Collaborative Summer Mass Schedule Begins Sunday, July 7

The Summer Sunday Mass Schedule for our Collaborative will begin on Sunday, July 7. As you will recall, during the summer months we have Sunday 7:30am Masses at both parishes, and a 9:00am Mass at one parish and an 11:00am Mass at the other. This summer, the 9:00am Sunday Mass will be at St. Paul Church and the 11:00am Mass will be at St. John the Evangelist Church.

Parishioners are encouraged to attend the Masses within the collaborative that are most convenient. Envelopes and checks placed in the collection basket will be returned to your home parish.

Now would be a great time to consider online giving, if you haven’t already. Online giving makes donating to your home parish simple and easy, regardless of where you are or the time of year, and this in turn provides the parish with more consistent and stable contributions. Please visit your home parish’s website or call the office for more information.

Thank You from St. Francis House

Dear St. John and St. Paul Parishioners,

We at St. Francis House would like to thank you and all those who participated in the clothing drive at your Parish for the generous donations of clothing, which will help provide our guests with the vital resources they need to reclaim their dignity and rebuild their lives.

Your support means so much, and your contributions of much-needed clothing helps St. Francis House provide a broad range of life-changing services to the poor and homeless in Boston. In fact, loyal supporters like you have helped us keep our doors open for over 34 years, offering a warm welcome to as many as 500 guests each day who come through our doors seeking support. Last year our clothing department had 13,306 scheduled contacts with our guests and gave out over 50,000 articles of clothing.

For our guests, walking through those doors is an important step in their process of rebuilding their lives. Thanks to you, St. Francis House is able to continue helping guests leave homelessness behind.

Thank you for choosing to be a part of the St. Francis House community.
