Our Family Mass Program is on Summer Vacation!

Beginning Sunday, June 25, the 9:00am Mass will be a regular liturgy until the Family Mass returns in September with child-focused  homilies and Donuts & Coffee.

Thank you so much to all the families who volunteered this year for Donuts & Coffee set-up and clean-up. This time after Mass is a wonderful source of community and connection, and the help from our volunteers is greatly appreciated.

Welcome Fr. Robert!

Fr_Robert_BlaneyPlease join us this Sunday, June 18 at the 9:00am Family Mass at St. John as we welcome our new parochial vicar, Fr. Robert Blaney.  A special reception will be held after Mass in Powers Hall.

Father Robert Blaney is thrilled to join the parishes of St. John’s & St. Paul’s.  He was born and raised in Framingham where his parents Jim & Carol still reside.  He is a graduate of Boston College with a B.S. in Business. For 13 years Fr. Blaney was a professional actor in New York City.  His comedy show How Old Is Your Cat?, which he co-wrote and starred in, ran there for over a year.  From 1998 to 2001 he starred in the 2-man play 2 Pianos, 4 Hands on Broadway, in the Canadian production, and on the U.S. National Tour.  Responding to God’s call to the priesthood, he gave notice on his contract, entered St. John’s Seminary in Boston, and was ordained a priest 6 years later in 2007.  Since his ordination, Fr. Blaney has served at St. Mary’s in Franklin, St. Theresa’s in West Roxbury, Gate of Heaven, St. Brigid’s, St. Monica’s & St. Augustine’s in South Boston, and most recently at Sacred Heart & Our Lady Help of Christians parishes in Newton.  In the last three years he was able to combine his love of God and Church with his acting background, appearing in the movie Heart of Faith and performing his 1-man show, A Musical Encore with Father Robert Blaney, which can be found on YouTube.

There will be receptions after the following Masses, please come and extend a welcome to Fr. Blaney.

An Invitation To Envision and Plan a Creative Path to Understanding and Living Our Catholic Faith

FaithLifePlease Join Us
Tuesday, June 13
7:00 – 9:15pm
St. Paul Parish Hall

The St. John-St. Paul collaborative faith community has a unique opportunity to develop programs to inspire and attract those among us who hunger for more understanding and sharing of our Catholic faith. Drawing on the ideas and talents of both parishes, we desire to offer adult faith enrichment in ways greater than our parishes can accomplish individually.

You are invited to join the conversation, to lend your thoughts on the development of an innovative adult faith enrichment program that will attract and inspire diverse segments of our community.

Carol Yamartino, a professional executive meeting facilitator, will guide both general and small group discussions. This is your opportunity to help shape future St. John-St. Paul programs designed to further our understanding of our Catholic faith, and what it means to live that faith.

In order to plan for the evening, please let us know that you will be joining us by clicking this link:  RSVP

St. Paul Parish Hall is located behind St. Paul Church, at 502 Washington St. Parking is available on Washington St. and in the parking lot behind the church (entrance at 10 Atwood St.)

June 10-11: St. Francis House Men’s Clothing Drive

stfrancishouse_large Each spring the St. John Parish community comes together to support  St. Francis House with a Men’s Clothing Drive. Each year the drive is a huge success because of your generosity and grace. St. Francis House serves approximately 50 clothing appointments per day (M-F), which is 250 full set of clothing per week, to their guests in need. To help meet this ongoing need, we are collecting men’s gently-used everyday clothing.

Right now, the highest needed items include:

  • Men’s pants (especially jeans size 30-40)
  • T-shirts, shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, & spring
    coats
  • Footwear (walking shoes and sneakers)
  • Backpacks/duffel bags/tote bags
  • Summer hats (baseball caps, beach hats)
  • NEW underwear and undershirts (in original
    packaging)
  • NEW socks (for their Foot Clinic)

We hope you will take the time for a quick spring cleaning, and remember to drop off the items to the St. John church garage on the weekend of June 10-11 from 9AM to 5PM.

Please Note: They DO NOT accept children’s clothing, used socks, or any discolored items. If you can put your items in boxes or secured bags, and label it with the general contents, it would be a great help with sorting. Thank you for your generosity!

Olive_Wood_3These handicrafts are made by small family businesses and the older students of the School of Joywhich is a school for children with learning difficulties located just outside Bethlehem.
Sales of the handicrafts directly benefit Christian families living in very difficult circumstances as well as the important work of the school: Olive_Wood_1

“By buying from these articles you are not just supporting the school and the children, but you are also creating in them a sense of self-respect and confidence in their abilities.”
