New Members Named to Parish Council

PPCAs you know during the month of October, we invite the congregation to nominate individuals for our Parish Pastoral Council. Those nominated were contacted and from those who were willing to serve, we drew the names of two men and two women. We did this at the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, October 12. We congratulate our new members: Tony DeProspo, Ronda Dew, Rose Mary Donahue and Paul Rolincik.

Out going members are: Kate Donovan, Jack Kapples, Stephanie Morgan and Ed Nelson. They have been an enormous help to us over the three years, and we are genuinely grateful to them for their service.

Our newest members now join with current members: Art Greenwood, Steve Healy, Mark Kelley, Marci Loeber, Mary Mullen, Suzanne Pasko (Chair) Christian Rubio and Sheelah Sullivan.

Capital Campaign Update

church_frontFr. Powers and our Parish Pastoral and Finance Councils have decided to move forward with a parish-wide Planning Study to formulate a plan to address some on-going maintenance needs at our parish. For the past year and a half, our Building and Grounds Committee has been evaluating our parish facilities and assessing deferred maintenance. We are in the process of prioritizing these needs and estimating the total cost for the work. During the next several weeks, every parish family on our mailing list will be contacted and asked to take part in a study process to be conducted by Cornerstone Fundraising, a professional Catholic fundraising firm. Members of the Cornerstone team will be conducting one-on-one personal interviews and focus groups with randomly selected families and individuals of the parish. A direct mail study questionnaire will be mailed to every home as well.

Focus Group meetings are open to all parishioners.  The Cornerstone staff will be conducting these meetings in the Social Hall: Thursday, June 13th 1:00pm and 7:00pm and Monday, June 17th 1:00pm and 7:00pm. Please make every effort to participate in the survey process so that we may complete this study with your open and honest input.

St. John the Evangelist Capital Campaign

church_frontAs was announced last weekend, Fr. They have reported that sections of the original part of the church, most notably the tower, are in need of significant repair and reconstruction. Our heating and cooling systems need updating and our parking lot needs repaving and improved lighting. These are just some of the projects that have been deferred over the years because we are unable to address them through our regular operating budget.  We are in the process of prioritizing these needs and estimating the total cost for the work. Careful consideration and thoughtful planning is required for us to move forward. This is why input from our parishioners is of the utmost importance at this time. Your opinions and suggestions will enable us to formulate a final plan that will help meet the needs of our entire parish. During the next several weeks, every parish family on our mailing list will be contacted and asked to take part in a study process to be conducted by Cornerstone Fundraising, a professional Catholic fundraising firm. Members of
the Cornerstone team will be conducting one-on-one personal interviews and focus groups with randomly selected families and individuals of the parish. A direct mail study questionnaire will be mailed to every home as well. Please make every effort to participate in the survey process so that we may complete this study with your open and honest input.  Thank you for your continued support.

Parish Pastoral Council News – October 7, 2012

MEETING OF ST. JOHN – ST. PAUL PARISH COUNCILS: On Thursday, September 20, St. Paul’s Parish Council hosted St. John’s Parish Council. The purpose of the meeting was to begin conversations between the two Parish Councils on the forthcoming Pastoral Plan. At the meeting each Parish Council spoke of the areas they have been working on and projects that they intend to focus on in the coming year. It was a very constructive meeting and it was agreed that each Parish Council would name two members to form a committee that would recommend future areas of discussion and cooperation.

PARISH COUNCIL NOMINATIONS: We have received the nominations for the Parish Council. After each nominee has been contacted in regards to their willingness to serve, we will draw the names of two men and two women, from those who accepted their nomination. This will happen at a Mass on the second
Sunday in October.
