World Youth Day

Krakow LogoAt Masses this weekend, March 12-13, we will introduce the young parishioners from the St. John-St. Paul Collaborative who will be attending World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland this summer, and inviting parishioners to sponsor the pilgrims both financially and spiritually.

Please visit the World Youth Day page on our website for more information about this pilgrimage for our young people.

March 4-5: 24 Hours for the Lord

24_Hours_Pope_201624 Hours for the Lord is a worldwide initiative called for by Pope Francis to invite all people to receive the mercy of God through Eucharistic Adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is happening all across the world on March 4 – 5, kicked off by Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square.

Adoration will be held at St. John Church in the Chapel beginning Friday, March 4 after the 7:00am Mass and concluding at 10:00am on Saturday, March 5. Please come at any time, and stay for any length of time! Bring a friend! All are invited to this experience of God’s love and mercy!

If you are able to commit to a period of time (in increments of one hour) to be present for Adoration, you can sign up online or by contacting the Parish Office (781-235-0045 or stjohnwellesley@stjohnwellesley.org). This will help to ensure that at least two people are present for Adoration at all times. Thank you!

Collaborative Pastoral Council News

SJSP Collaborative Logo_SmallWe are blessed! Last week, your St. John-St. Paul Collaborative Pastoral Council (CPC) held its second meeting, and toured the facilities of our two parishes. We are blessed to have beautiful, well-maintained buildings and grounds at both locations. Our goal will be to determine how to creatively utilize all the space for the benefit of parishioners in a manner that will maintain the character of each parish, while accommodating the growth we hope to realize through Disciples in Mission. The Collaborative Pastoral Council (CPC) has also begun the training offered by the Archdiocese to help us better serve you and our parishes in our new roles. We look forward to working with Fr. Sepe as we begin to move forward.

World Youth Day 2016

Krakow LogoWorld Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope which is typically celebrated every few years in a different country. This year, we have 40 representatives from St. John and St. Paul parishes traveling to Krakow, Poland this summer. After attending the 11:00am Mass at St John’s together last Sunday, we held the first of our preparation meetings this year where we began to learn about the history of Poland and the Catholic church in Poland and specifically about the life of St. John Paul II.

We invite you to join with us and find out more about World Youth Day and our group by going to the World Youth Day link on the Parish website.

Collaborative Pastoral Council Nominations Due by October 30

SJSP Collaborative Logo_Small The Collaborative Pastoral Council (CPC) will be comprised of an equal number of parishioners from each parish.  The CPC advises the Pastor in his role in forming and implementing the mission of the parishes in the collaborative.

The selection process begins with nomination. An individual can nominate him/herself or a parishioner may nominate a person they believe will be able to fulfill the expectations of the role. Ballots and ballot boxes have been placed at the entrance of each Church.  Please place cards with your nomination(s) for the Collaborative Pastoral Council in the ballot box at the Church entrance. (Cards may also be submitted to either the St. John or St. Paul parish office.) Please submit your nominations as soon as possible – nominations will close on Friday, October 30, 2015.

The names will be vetted and confirmed.   During one of the Masses in each parish, following a prayer to the Holy Spirit, Fr. Sepe will draw the names from a
basket for the selection. The pastor may appoint additional members in order to assure appropriate representation of parishioners. Although each parish will have equal representation on the CPC, its members are reminded that they are distinct from a Parish Pastoral Council in that they are expected to understand that their view of church is as a collaborative.

Qualifications: (1) Be a Catholic who is registered and active in one of the Collaborative Parishes, (2) Participate in the sacramental life of the Church, (3) Be 18 years of age or older.

Expectations include:  Ongoing meetings (up to twice a month initially),  participation in council training sessions for Disciples in Mission where three topics will be addressed at three separate training seminars, and an individual meeting with the Pastor.
