Our P.O.L.O. (Parents of Little Ones) Playgroup is a parent-organized drop-in group that meets Wednesday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00am in the Church Social Hall. Come out and meet new families – bring your coffee and snacks and let the kids run and play! Send an email to Chrissy Cassa to be added to the POLO Email Notification List so we can let you know about any cancellations or changes to the schedule.

ill soon be gathering into small faith communities for Why Catholic?. Why Catholic? is a faith formation and evangelization program offered by the Archdiocese for adults to explore the richness of their Catholic faith, deepen their relationship with Christ and share more fully in the mission of the Church. This fall, the program’s theme is “Eucharist – Bread for the Journey” and focuses on the importance of full, active participation in Sunday Mass, the centrality of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, the celebration of the Paschal Mystery, and how Catholics live this mystery in their daily lives. This program is open to St. John’s parishioners and gives them an opportunity to meet new friends and share our faith in the comfort of a parishioner’s home. Why Catholic? will begin the week of October 6 and will meet once a week for 6 weeks. More information and signups will be available during the month of September. New members are welcome as well as returning participants. If you would like to be a group leader or open up your home for a group please contact Kay Kociuba, St. Paul Pastoral Associate at (781) 235-1060.

Join us this Sunday, October 5 at 2:30pm for the “Blessing of the Animals”. All loved animals are welcome – real, toy and photo! Free balloon animals for kids of all ages! (Behind the Church)
For their safety, all real animals should be leashed or in a carrier. Please consider donating gently used blankets and towels for local animal shelters.

Steven is currently studying at Pope St. John XXIII Seminary and will be participating in the life of the Parish as he completes his ed. assignment for the Seminary. Steven comes to us from the Long Island Rockville Center Diocese. We look forward to his involvement with our Parish community!

To serve is to walk in the footsteps of Christ. To help one another is to live out His example. To give aid when it is needed is to take up his cross and be the light we are called to be. As disciples of Christ, we are called to take up the mantle of service and live for others. In acts great and small we are called to live out the example of Christ and let our example shine as a beacon for those who are in need of a little light.
In this spirit, the St. John Service Commission invites any parishioners interested in becoming more involved in the work of service to others to join us next year. The Service Commission acts as a coordination and oversight committee for our parish outreach and service programs, and provides a channel for exploring and incorporating new programs and new opportunities to serve into the St. John’s community. Our role is to be a catalyst for Christ’s call to serve, and a support mechanism for those who choose to answer that call.
The Service Commission meets approximately once every two months for 1 1/2 hours and typically members serve a three-year term. Requirements are that you feel a call for service and are looking for a way to express it. Those interested in becoming a Commission member should visit our page on the parish website for information, or contact Michael Cassa or Mary McCauley.
